Aspley Special School is located within the Metropolitan Region of the Queensland Department of Education (DoE). The student catchment area is geographically very large, spreading from the inner city to Eatons Hill, Sandgate and Bracken Ridge.
For enrolment to be approved in a Queensland special school, there are some legislative and process requirements that need to be followed.
A diagnosis of an Intellectual Disability is required for enrolment in a Queensland special school and enrolment is undertaken consultatively with the school Principal and regional office, as outlined in the department’s procedure for Enrolment in State Primary, Secondary and Special Schools.
To develop strong partnerships with parents, carers and the community, our school encourages them to be actively involved in everyday life at Aspley Special School. As such we have numerous events and activities that parents, carers and the community can engage with, including:
- Awards and Celebration Events
- Formal
- Weekly Monday Assembly and Friday Coffee Shop
- ANZAC and Remembrance Day Ceremonies
- Special Events including Sports Days, Walkathons, Volunteer Days, Awareness and Fundraising Days.
In addition, we provide a number of days where prospective students from Geebung Special and other schools are welcome to enter and participate in our curriculum as part of their transition program. This process enables students and staff the wonderful opportunity to interact and become familiar with each other, school facilities and the overall procedures and management of the school.
Please contact the
Principal if you are interested in learning more about the enrolment process or visiting the school.
