AWARD WINNING

The Frothee Coffee Shoppee is an award-winning training program for students with a disability, which has been recognised by receiving the "Excellence in the Senior Phase of Learning" award during the 2008 Queensland Education "Showcase Awards for Excellence". This award program honours the outstanding educational achievements by Queensland schools, and we are proud to continue to grow and advance the program each year with more and more students learning valuable skills to assist in employment prospects once they leave school. This program is open to the students of Aspley Special School, and also surrounding schools.

OUR TRAINING FACILITIES
The commercial standard training facility welcomes students with multiple disabilities and has a purpose built wheelchair accessible area so all students can fully participate.

There is a strong emphasis on students developing a positive work ethic as well as extending social skills through customer relations and team building.

OUR SKILLS TRAINING

The Frothee Coffee Shoppee is operated by hospitality trained and accredited staff in a commercial kitchen using routines and procedures used within the hospitality industry.

Students complete training before opening the coffee shop to the public and are trained in hygiene and workplace health and safety practices as well as specific food and beverage skills.

Students are rostered through all aspects of operating a coffee shop including front of house tasks such as greeting and seating guests, taking and serving orders, managing money and clearing away at the end of business.

The back of house tasks that students engage in are preparing espresso coffees, making cold drinks, toasted sandwiches, plating the dessert and the savoury side of the menu. All students are involved in the final cleaning procedures that are completed to the accepted hospitality standard in all restaurants.

All students receive a statement of participation and a work report after completing the course.  This course is a good introduction to the hospitality industry and can be used as a work experience for students with a disability.

With incredible coffee, food and amazing customer service, a visit to our coffee shop is an insightful and enjoyable experience.

If you would like to attend the ‘Frothee Coffee Shoppee’, please be aware that bookings through our office are essential. The Coffee Shop seats a maximum of 25 customers per sitting so the earlier you book, the better.

There are two sittings for the Coffee Shop at 10.00am and 11.00am. Unfortunately without a booking you will not be able to visit as we limit the numbers to enable the students to learn.

The Frothee Coffee Shoppee also has an Eftpos machine available to use. Alternatively, cash is also accepted for payment.
