It is the parents and caregivers responsibility to advise administration when their child will be absent from school and for what reason. It is not suffice to only notify the teacher in a communication book, an absence must also be explained formally, using the one of the following processes:
- Text only the following number 0428 665 712 before 9:00am.
- Email absent@aspleyspecs.eq.edu.au before 9:00am.
- Call the school on 3867 2333 before 9.00am (leave message if phone is unattended).
If your child leaves school early due to illness and is then away the following day, you must still advise the school of why they are away. The school cannot assume the child is still ill.
Alternatively, if you know in advance that your child will be away, you can either text, email or phone as above, to inform administration staff of any upcoming absences – it not just suffice to notify the teacher in the communication book.
If your child is away from school and you have not notified the school formally either by texting, phoning or emailing administration, you will receive a text message to alert you of your child’s unexplained absence, with the option to reply via text message. The automated message will read ‘Mary was absent from school today please reply with a reason or call our absentee line on 3867 2333’
If you are advised by the school that your child is away without a reason, please contact us via a reply text or phone call as soon as possible to let us know where your child is. We will follow up with parents if no response is received.
