The School Chaplain provides
students and staff with social, emotional and spiritual support, provide an
additional adult role model in the school and enhance engagement with the
broader community including parents.
I am excited to be the school chaplain at Aspley Special School. This is my 4th term at this school as chaplain! It's such a privilege and an honour to be able to work at this school with our phenomenal teachers, teacher aides, staff and students. My greatest joy as a chaplain is seeing young people and their families creating great memories together. I truly believe that we are better when we are all together.
Sometimes we all need time to just have a chat. During my
days here at the school, students, parents and school staff members have the
opportunity to book in with me to discuss anything they may like to talk about.
When we share how we are feeling, what we are hoping for, or what we need to
work through, I believe that in these moments of sharing we become stronger
because we realise that we are not alone.
The chaplaincy program provides an additional dimension to the school's care, guidance and support of students with spiritual/and or religious needs. As a role model of students I assist them to develop supportive relationships.
