Rhythm Music Therapy

Rhythm Music Therapy provides Music Therapy services to individuals
with disabilities throughout Brisbane, priding ourselves on our holistic
and inclusive programs for both individuals and groups. Music Therapy
can be used to improve a number of areas of an individual's
development and functioning and be a connecting medium for those
who need extra support. Therapeutic interventions such as singing,
instrumental play, musical games, song writing or improvisation may be
involved in a Music Therapy session, with each session tailored to suit
individual clients, as well as family and peer groups. Unlike music
education, Music Therapy is focused on functional goals to develop an
individual's well-being and health. Individual's can focus on learning
about and developing important concepts and skills such as:
• Cognition and language
• Speech and communication
• Gross and fine motor skills
• Social skills and greater self-confidence
• Improved self-regulation and control

As a bonus, Music Therapy is an appealing medium for an individual to
engage with whilst working on these skills, as it is interactive, and driven
by the client's musical preferences.

The Orca Project - WMQ
The ORCA Project - WMQ

The ORCA Project is a work skills training program for young people aged 17-21 living with different abilities.
Participants attend the program for up to two years and are face to face two days a week (aligned with school terms). The program teaches and practices employability skills while allowing space to grow in confidence as a worker; to identify valuable gifts that can contribute to a workplace; and to strengthen friendships with other team mates.
This is not a “cookie cutter one size fits all” kind of program. Each person continues their own journey of discovery as they identify their preferences for work that is both suitable and engaging as well as matching their own skills and interests.
The ORCA Project is NDIS and SLES registered through Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ).
