Despite the geographical spread of our student's homes we are a community hub for our surrounding suburbs. Community involvement in the school is centred around our Kingfisher Recycling Centre and Coffee Shop. Our school has been processing the local community's recyclable material since the school opened in 1974. What started with can crushing has now grown into the world's largest school-based recycling centre which is a collaborative project between our school and the twenty volunteers which ensure it opens 24/7, every day of the year.
Local businesses, schools and community members visit our award winning coffee shop the Frothee Coffee Shoppee each Friday. The coffee shop is run to industry standard and provides invaluable skills training opportunities for our students and a wonderful meeting place for our community.
Our school has wonderful relationships with numerous community groups that provide support to our students for targeted projects - in particular the Aspley Orchid Society, Aspley Lions and the Variety Club. We also have nurtured a number of corporate partnerships with local businesses especially Bada Bing Restaurant, Bunnings and The Good Guys Carseldine. |
